Replication Binding

This option is available in the Replication menu and the Network menu.

The Replication subsystem can be forced to explicitly use one of the network interfaces. For example in a scenario where there is a dedicated network for replication communication: with two HSMs replicating one of the interfaces on each HSM can be cross-connected with one of the interfaces on the other HSM; with three or more HSMs in the pool a dedicated network switch or VLAN could be used for this purpose.

The console will only display active interfaces as an option for Replication Binding, i.e. those with a link signal. If the operator does not specify a port for Replication, the device will choose one automatically, according to the current network configuration and route table.

In most cases there is no need to specify an Interface for Replication; the system's automatic selection correctly identifies the port to be used.
