Rack installation
For the physical installation of the HSM, it is recommended that it be placed in a standard 19-inch rack.
The environmental conditions must be within the parameters described in the equipment's physical characteristics.
The following items are required to install the HSM:
- Minimum rack space of 1U;
- 04 screws for fixing to rack (supplied) or rail or tray, depending on model and purchase option;
- Two 110 or 220V power sockets for connecting the redundant power supply at the rear (we recommend that they be from different power extensions); only one socket is required for the XP model;
- Network point and cable with RJ-45 male connector for connection to the rear RJ-45 female connector (LAN1 or LAN2); both ports can be used simultaneously;
- Video monitor with VGA cable and D15 male connector for connection to the HSM 's front D15 female connector (video port);
- USB keyboard (connection does not work via USB HUBs or keyboards with built-in USB input); some older HSM models require a keyboard with a PS/2 connector;
Procedure
- Open the package and check that all the items are present:
- HSM Hardware Dinamo ;
- 02 smart cards;
- 01 or 02 power cables, depending on the type of power supply;
- Remove the HSM from the packaging;
- Check that all sealing and identification labels are intact;
- Attach the HSM to the rack using the 04 screws in the four holes next to the handle on the front or use a rail or tray.
- Connect the power socket(s) to the source on the back;
- Connect the network cable to one of the rear ports;
- Connect the video monitor to the front;
- Connect the keyboard to the front;
- Turn on the monitor;
- Turn on the HSM via the power button on the front (some models have a button on the back to turn on the power supply);
- Check that the power, power status (front, ST model only) and source (rear, ST model only) LEDs light up and turn green;
- Wait while the HSM performs hardware and software self-tests and loads the HSM firmware;
- Check that the signal on the video port is enabled and the video monitor displays self-test and home screen information;
- The HSM is ready to start the Initialization process if it is the first access or Activation;
The monitor and keyboard are only needed for the Initialization, Activation or HSM configuration procedures and can be disconnected after the procedures.
In the above procedure, if any items are found to be missing or if any of the steps are not followed, the manufacturer should be contacted.
It is important that after the Initialization process the OEM security code is checked to certify the integrity of the equipment.
Attention
The HSM leaves the factory set to Non Restricted Mode ( NRM); the operator must explicitly change the mode of operation if they so choose.

Rail Package Contents:
- (2) External rail (left and right)
- (2) Internal rail (left and right)
- (2) Flat head screw 8-32 x .312
Installation instructions
Step 1
Attaching the rail: attach the inner rail to the chassis by aligning the pins on the side of the HSM with the holes and slide until the retaining clip attaches the inner rail to the HSM. Repeat for the other side.
Step 2
Opening the front support: turn to open.
Step 3a.
Attaching the outer rails to the rack: insert the rear bracket into the holes in the 1U space as shown, at a slight angle. Then twist into place.
Step 3b.
Attaching the rail to the rack: insert the front bracket into the holes in the 1U space as shown. Rotate the rail so that it joins the front bracket.
Note: As shown for the right rail above, repeat steps 2 and 3 for the left rail.
Step 4 (optional).
Attaching the rail to the rack: install the flat-head screw on the inside of the outer rail to ensure that it cannot be unlocked. Once the right rail is shown, repeat for the left rail.
Note: This step is only necessary if the rail is installed in the rack and transported without the HSM.
Step 5.
Installing the HSM: align the HSM with the rails and slide it in.
Note: Support the bottom of the HSM while sliding to ensure proper alignment.
