Policy
The HSM 's replication mechanism has some operating parameters that can be edited by the operator. Any changes to these values must be made with great discretion and expert monitoring, as inappropriate values can compromise and severely damage the operation and/or overall performance of the HSM.
The policy parameters that can be edited are:
- Manager Pulsing: period of the main timer of the replication manager service;
- Recovery Pulsing: period of the automatic recovery subsystem timer, for resolving any pending transactions; always runs within a multiple interval of the main timer.
- TCP/IP Timeout: waiting time on network connections before the node decides to retransmit or permanently abort a connection attempt and return the error condition.

The main timer controls the functions of the replication service, performing among other activities:
- Local announcement for the node's SLP location service;
- Automatic recovery service routine;
In the event of changes with adverse results, the operator can reload the factory defaults via the Load Defaults button.
