Database Live Sync

Online synchronization of the node bases is a necessary step in setting up the Replication Domain. The term online here refers to the fact that the pool does not need to be stopped to perform the synchronization.

Danger

Synchronization results in the complete overwriting of the HSM base by the Domain base. Any partitions, keys or objects present in the local base will be removed.

Synchronization is always done by bringing the image of the database in the pool, from any of the nodes, to the node where synchronization is performed, i.e. this is the node that will have the database overwritten.

As a measure to protect user data, base synchronization will not be performed on an HSM where there have been client connections since the service on the node was started; this prevents data from being lost inadvertently. It is therefore always recommended to stop and start the HSM service immediately before a manual base synchronization.

When the Domain is configured with automatic node discovery (default procedure), base synchronization is triggered automatically, and the operator only needs to authenticate and confirm the operation.

Start database synchronization

For a node to perform base synchronization, it must have at least one node in the replication list; it is not possible to synchronize the local base with itself.

The network settings are affected as follows by the base synchronization process:

  1. Interface 1: does not synchronize
  2. Interface 2: does not synchronize
  3. Bond: does not synchronize
  4. Default Gateway: does not synchronize
  5. Routes: not synchronized
  6. IP Filter: synchronizes
  7. SNMP: does not synchronize
  8. NTP: synchronize
  9. Replication Binding: does not synchronize
  10. Replication Node List: synchronizes
